Terms of sale and licence

Last updated 10 October 2026.

These terms are between you and Octade LLC, the US company that makes Inlet (“we”, “us”). They cover the Inlet app for Mac, Inlet Pro and the licence keys we issue. If you have a question about them, write to hello@inletdb.com.

Using Inlet for free

You may use Inlet for free for personal use: your own projects, study, and open-source work you aren’t paid for. Every database Inlet works with and every safety feature is included. You may install it on any Mac you use.

Inlet Pro

Using Inlet for work needs Pro. That means using it for an employer, a client or your own business, paid or not. Pro also adds SSH tunnels, Redis Cluster, Activity’s actions, Ask Claude and diagram export.

  • Who it’s for. A Pro licence is for one person, on any Macs they use. It’s yours: don’t share the key with other people or publish it. If several people at your company use Inlet, each needs a licence; write to us to buy several at once.
  • The trial. A new install includes 14 days of Pro, with no sign-up. You can use the trial at work.
  • Updates. Pro includes every version released in the year after you buy it. Your key keeps working in those versions for good, even after the year ends. Versions released later need another year of updates.
  • Price and payment. Prices are in US dollars, and checkout may show them in your currency; tax is added where it applies. You pay through Onelink, Stripe’s checkout service, which is the seller of record for the payment: it takes the payment, collects any sales tax or VAT, sends your receipt and helps with questions about the charge, and its terms apply to the payment. The charge appears on your statement as being from LINK.COM. Your licence to use Inlet Pro is with us.
  • Refunds. You can have a full refund within 14 days of buying, without giving a reason. See the refund policy.

What you may not do

Don’t share, sell or publish licence keys; don’t alter Inlet or work around its licence checks; and don’t redistribute Inlet or sell it as part of something else. Inlet includes open-source components, listed in the app’s About window, which are covered by their own licences.

Your data

Inlet runs on your Mac and connects straight to your databases. We don’t receive your data, your queries or your passwords. The privacy policy explains what little we do receive, such as your email address when you buy Pro.

Being careful with your databases

Inlet is built to help you avoid mistakes: production connections open read-only, edits wait until you commit, and changes are checked against what you loaded. Even so, you are responsible for what you run and change in your databases, and for keeping backups. Inlet is provided “as is”: to the extent the law allows, we don’t promise that it will be free of errors or suit a particular purpose.

Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost data, profits or business, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us for Inlet in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, or takes away rights you have as a consumer where you live.

Ending the licence

Your licence ends if you break these terms (by sharing or publishing the key, say) or receive a refund, and you must then stop using Pro. When a licence ends we cancel it: copies of Inlet stop giving Pro under it once they have our latest list of cancelled licences, which comes with each version and with each check for updates. You can stop using Inlet at any time.

Changes and the law that applies

We may update these terms; the version on this page applies to versions of Inlet released after the change, and we’ll note the date at the top. These terms are governed by the laws of the US state in which Octade LLC is registered and by US federal law, except where the law of your country gives you protections that can’t be waived.
