Privacy policy

Last updated 10 October 2026.

Inlet doesn’t collect your data. The app has no analytics and no telemetry, and the website has no analytics and sets no cookies. This page explains the few things that do leave your Mac, and what we keep when you buy Inlet Pro. Inlet is made by Octade LLC (“we”), a US company; write to hello@inletdb.com with any question.

The app

  • Your databases and queries go only between your Mac and your database servers. We never see them.
  • Passwords and API keys are kept in your Mac’s Keychain.
  • Crash reports are kept on your Mac (Settings › Privacy). Nothing is sent unless you choose to email one to us.
  • Updates. If you let Inlet check for updates, it asks our update server whether there’s a newer version, and downloads the list of cancelled licences (below). Like any web request, this reveals your IP address to the server; it sends nothing else about you.
  • Ask Claude, if you turn it on with your own Anthropic API key, sends your request straight from your Mac to Anthropic: your question and the shape of your tables, plus the SQL, error or plan you ask about, never your rows. You can preview each request first. Anthropic’s privacy policy covers what it does with it; we don’t receive it.
  • Your licence key is kept on your Mac and checked there. Inlet also checks it, on your Mac, against our list of cancelled licences (refunded, or with a key that was shared), which comes with each version and is downloaded again when Inlet checks for updates. The list holds licence ids only, and the download sends nothing about you or your key.

The website

inletdb.com runs no analytics and sets no cookies. Cloudflare, which hosts it, processes requests (including IP addresses) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.

When you buy Pro

You pay through Onelink, Stripe’s checkout service, which takes the payment and sends your receipt; we never see your card details. Stripe’s privacy policy covers what it holds about the payment. We receive and keep:

  • your name and email address, to send your licence key and to answer you;
  • your country, the amount and tax, and the date, which tax and accounting law requires us to keep;
  • the licence we issued you.

Cloudflare stores the licences we issue and sends the email with your key. We don’t sell your information, use it for advertising, or send marketing email without asking.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it (apart from what the law requires us to keep, such as sales records). Write to hello@inletdb.com. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to a data protection authority.

Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
